St. Patrick: it is a nice pub, good pints of beer and angus steak, plus oysters. Good pizza. Via Cialdini 15/17 |
Antica Cucina: the cook of the wedding in Barletta runs this old fashion -relatively high prize- restaurant. Mainly fish, but superb interpretations of
pugliese food. Highlighted in the Gambero Rosso bible for good cellar and good food. It is nearby the station, 20 min walking from
the old part of the town. Via Milano 73, 0883 521718 |
San Giorgio: a pizzeria in via San Giorgio (guess why the name of the place). In the old part of Barletta. Need to book, it is
always busy at that time of the year. |
Grapes: a nice wine bar, in the old part of Barletta. Discrete choice of wines, nice food. Don't need to book,
it is a small
place, few tables for drinking one or two glasses of wine. You'll find it nearby the Piazza fanfulla, the first street on
the left at the beginning of via Duomo, opposite end of the Cathedral. |
Il Birraio: a beer brewer near the cathedral. Big old place, it is appreciable the taste of the 3-4 different
beers they produce. Via Del Duomo, 13, Barletta (BA) - 0883 533012 |
Baccosteria: used to be far the best restaurant in Barletta together with the Antica Cucina, one of the best in Italy. Small (and kind of expensive place) but worth it to
visit. You can see the cellar through the glass floor. 10 tables at the most. Need to book. A very good selection of wines.
Unfurtunally moved from Barletta to Bari. |
Miami Beach: an average pizzeria, just at the end of Litoranea di Levante, where the Nicotel is. In case you are hungry and do not feel like walking much. Pizza is good, by the way! |
Boccon DiVino: this is a very cool wine bar, nice bottles -mainly from Puglia-, nice furnitures, and a small restaurant
downstairs -always busy though! The only issue, is that is not inside the old part of Barletta, but easy to reach, 10 minutes
walking from Corso Cavour, one of the main street in Barletta. |
Exploit: in case you find all the other places busy, this big pub/bar has few brewed beers and loads of space. Via Marina, 5 |
Vecchio Forno: very nice place, nice atmosphere and friendly, good compromise between quality and amount of food and
price. You can even ask only for the house wine, and you will find it special; food is great. They will get the fish
directly from the "aquarium" just before cooking. Several pasta dishes, all marvelous. Always busy. Mind: it starts serving
food at 8'30 p.m.Via Cialdini, 61- 0883 334293 |
La stradina: a nice pizzeria, with tables in the middle of the narrow streets of Barletta. Nearby Eraclio, the big Statue! Via
Samuelli, 15, Barletta (BA) - 0883 348159 |
Santa Nera: a proper night out bar. Good cocktails, nice place! In the old part of Barletta, you can easily reach it from Corso
Cavour. Via Madonna degli Angeli 3 |
|
Brancaleone: a tiny place, with great salami, good food in general, delicious sweets. Piazza della Disfida. The name of the
place comes from one of the 13 knights of the
Disfida di Barletta |
|
Caffe' con vista: another proper night out place. No way to sit, during the weekend (and every single night during the summer)
it is just crowded. Behind the cathedral and in front of the castle. No need to give you the address. |
|
Pepe Nero: Vico Colonna, 5 |
|
Pascucci Bar: more than a bar this is a proper caffe' paradise. At least 50 different ways to serve coffee,
starting from the straight one to all the possible versions with or without liquors, cream, chocolate, almond.....
It is in via S. Antonio, the road connecting two among the most relevant streets for shopping!
(Via Renato Coletta and Via D'Aragona) |

Casa del Babba' (?)Via Nazareth is a little miracle occurred after the complete restoration of the historical
center of Barletta. This street departs just in front of Eraclio, the Big Statue. Until few years ago, this street
was pitch dark. And now it is just a masterpiece! Full of bars and little restaurants, towards Eraclio (so near one
end of the street) there is a marvelous place for eating BABBA', a sweet-speciality from the South of Italy,
originally from Naples, but they will excuse us if in Barletta they make a better babba'! The name is "la casa del
Babba'" and it looks like a patisserie |

Gelateria Mont Blanc close to the cathedral, there is this ice-cream bar, with homemade ice-creams
(20-30 tastes) and tables in the narrow streets of the old part of Barletta. Giant cups of ice-cream, garnished
with fruit syrups. Absolutely yummy! |
